New Logic Analyzers can also measure analog signals
The American company Saleae has renewed its popular logic analyzers. There are now 4 models which are also able to measure analog signals. So basically they are mixed signal oscilloscopes, but for the price of a logic analyzer. The bandwidth has been increased. The Logic Pro has a sample rate of 500 MS/s for digital signals and 50 MS/s for analog signals. The PC software from Saleae is unprecedentedly good and has extensive protocol analysis of SPI, I2C, 1-Wire, RS232, CAN, DMX and PCM. The logic analyzer is available with 4, 8 or 16 channels.
The Raspberry Pi 2 Model B is the second generation Raspberry Pi. The board has a 900MHz quad core, ARM Cortex-A7 CPU and 1GB RAM. Just like (Pi 1) Model B+ the board has 4 USB ports, 40 pins GPIO, HDMI, Ethernet, audio connection, Camera interface (CSI), Display interface (DSI) and a connector for a micro SD card. The Pixy CMUcam5 is a camera with image recognition
Pixy is the fifth CMUcam that has been developed by Carnegie Mellon Institute. It is a small, fast and inexpensive camera system with image recognition. You can easily teach Pixy what objects it must recognise. The NXP LPC4330 dual core processor on the Pixy processes the images of the sensor and only sends the essential information (like: object recognised on x=54, y=103) to your microcontroller. It does this at a speed of 50 frames per second. The information is available on one of the interfaces: UART, SPI, I2C, digital or analog.
FlightSense™ module measures distance more accurate than an infrared sensor
A standard infrared sensor estimates the distance by measuring the amount of reflected light. This, however, is highly dependent on the color and the surface of the object. The VL6180 of ST measures the time the light needs to travel to the nearest object and back precisely (Time-of-Flight). This patented technology makes accurate distance measurement possible. The module from Sparkfun is provided with the VL6180 and has an I2C interface. It can measure a range of up to 25 cm.
