Most starter kits for Arduino have a breadboard to connect the parts. Breadboards with loose wires are difficult to use for beginners. A lot can go wrong. With the Grove Kit you don't have that problem. Grove is a modular system where sensors and actuators are connected to the Arduino with a standard cable. The Base Shield is placed on to the Arduino and the cable of the sensor/actuator plugs in the Base Shield. This kit has 10 Grove modules where every module has its own example program and functional description. This way you can easily discover all the possibilities of the Arduino.
New Arduino Ethernet board with USB and Wiznet W5500
Arduino have built a new version of their Ethernet board. The board has the ATmega32U4 microcontroller, which is also used in the Leonardo, and the new W5500 TCP/IP chip. The board has 20 digital I/O's. Of those 20 digital I/O's 7 can be used as PWM output and 12 as analogue input. Because the ATmega32U4 has built-in USB communication there is no need for an external USB to serial converter. To power the board you can use a power supply or optional Power over Ethernet (PoE).
Switch high current and voltage with the Raspberry
A relay is an electro mechanical switch which can be controlled with electronics. A relay can switch high current and voltage. This board for the Raspberry Pi has 4 relays which can switch up to 15A and 30V each. It can be used to control motors and lights. The board uses the I2C interface of the Raspberry Pi, where every relay can be switched on and off. A led shows the status of the relay. You can wire the relays using the screw terminals. Of each relay an NO and NC connection is available.
Programmable thermostat can be controlled over the internet with an app
The X-300™ from the American company ControlByWeb is a powerful I/O controller/datalogger that allows you to monitor and control the temperature thru an IP network. You can connect 8 temperature and/or humidity sensors. The temperature can be viewed in real-time with a web browser or the CBW app. Also, the X-300 has many advanced features such as email alerts, relay control for 3 relays, a BASIC interpreter and much more. The X-300 is also a programmable thermostat with a week schedule which can be set via internet. Users can adjust and set the temperature for the heating or cooling with a web browser or the app. It is also possible to view the indoor and outdoor temperature.
