The CCS811 is an ultra-low power digital gas sensor solution to detect a wide range of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) for indoor air quality monitoring. The CCS811 supports intelligent algorithms to process raw sensor measurements to output a TVOC value or equivalent CO2 (eCO2) levels.
The CCS811 integrates a metal oxide (MOX) gas sensor with a microcontroller unit (MCU), which includes an Analog-to-Digital converter (ADC), and an I²C interface. The I²C digital interface significantly simplifies the hardware and software design, enabling a faster time to market.
When humidity and temperature are known, the CCS811 can improve its TVOC and CO2 readings. The BME280 can supply this to the CCS811 to achieve greater accuracy.
The BME280 sensor from Bosch can measure humidity with ±3% accuracy, barometric pressure with ±1 hPa absolute accuracy, and temperature with ±1.0°C accuracy.
