It is suitable for debugging and programming most of the microcontrollers by Microchip: PIC10F, 12F, 16F, 18F, 24F/H, dsPIC and PIC32. Olimex has a PIC debugger which is fully compatible and cheaper. Robust RS232 to RS422/RS485 convertor has optical isolation With the RS422 or RS483 you can bridge a larger distance than with the RS232. Also the RS422/RS485 is less finicky, this is why the industry uses it a lot. Easysync has released a new version in a black metal housing where all the inputs are protected against strain. The RS422 or RS 485 signals can be connected on the DB9 connector or on the screw terminals.
