Bioloid
The Bioloid is a robotic kit made up block-shaped smart servos, sensors and
frame parts. With Bioloid you can build robots in various shapes that
accomplish various tasks.
With the use of a distance sensor, sound sensor, and feedback from the
joints, the robot can be programmed to operate autonomously. For
example, you can build a robot dog that gets up when it hears a clap and
sits down when it hears two claps, or a robot that bows when a person
comes close. You can also make a robot that avoids obstacles or a robot
that plays with a ball. By using the supplied software, you can easily
program different kind of robot movements.Hardware
The hardware of the Bioloid includes:
- AX-12+ Dynamixel
robot servo motors
These powerful networked actuators have a holding torque of 16 kg.cm!.
- AX-S1 Dynamixel
Sensor Module
This module can sense distance (IR), light
and sound. It has also an IR remote control transceiver and buzzer.
- CM-5 Bioloid Main
Controller Unit
The Controller has buttons and leds, controls the Dynamixel modules
and can be programmed by the PC.
Software
The software of the Bioloid includes:
- Behaviour Control Programmer
This is used for creating a program
that controls the robot behaviour. The program is used to let the robot
move according to the information received from
input devices such as sensors.
- 3D Motion editor
Motion Editor is software that allow you to create complex motions of
the multi-joint robot.
- Robot Terminal
This is a serial communication terminal
program for advanced control.
C-programming for
advanced user
The CM-5 Controller is based on the popular Atmel ATmega128 with 128
Kbytes of flash memory. It is also possible to program the CM-5 module
using GNU GCC compiler.
